Our Statement in Solidarity With Our Members

Date: Thursday June 18, 2020

Over the last several weeks, we like many of our fellow Americans, have been filled with pain and outrage at the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the many, many others who have unnecessarily lost their lives.

As an organization, our mission is to better the lives of our members and all working people. Our commitment is to fight for not just good jobs that support working people and their families, but for safe and healthy communities where everyone is respected and appreciated regardless of their race, gender, sexual identity or expression. This has been our promise for the 95 years we’ve supported our members and we promise to continue to stand up for justice and demand the end of the many forms that oppression come in.

These events and what you might be seeing on the news can be incredibly overwhelming and hard to process. If you need someone to speak to, we encourage you to reach out to our Member Assistance Program and our Director can help guide you towards the appropriate resources to get you the support you might need at this time. Jennifer Lipack can be reached at 516-294-1338 ext. 1304. (All calls are confidential).

If you would like to tell us about the work you’re doing to end injustice in your community, we would love to work with you to support your efforts. Please send us a note at
